thingsmatter designed the furnishings for a conceptual performance by Arto Lindsay and Noritoshi Hirakawa.
Passing a rotating video mirror, visitors removed their underwear at a pair of changing stations, checking them with a gallery attendant. Then they were admitted into the black enclosure at the center of the space, where they mingled with strangers, sharing a subtly titillating common knowledge. The display of their checked underwear, packaged and labeled, became the permanent art object, while each guest was given a commemorative pair of fundoshi to take home.
