Displaced Center
2003 | Siam Square, Bangkok
Video cameras hang over the teen hangout "Centre Point" in Siam Square, with brightly colored cables running from each camera to Siam Theatre. There, the live video feeds are shown on monitors in the floor of a viewing platform. Encircled by a glowing orange curtain, the elliptical platform perches precariously above a market roof; a dirty, unused space in the building's section. The video images it shows are a subtle, ghostly imprint of Centre Point's brightness and color, nearly overwhelmed with electronic noise generated by the long cable run.
