is part of thingsmatter's ongoing effort to liberate technology from kitsch. The installation incorporates one hundred LED-laden electric fans, a popular street-vendor novelty, decased, modified, and clipped in parallel to low voltage wiring.
Steel poles distributed through the space support the devices. As a visitor passes a pole in the darkened gallery space, an infrared motion sensor is triggered, and the fan blades begin tracing delicate polar arrays in the air.
